I love brunch. It is my favorite meal, I'm not quite sure what it is but the combination of laziness and good food has a way of making a Sunday perfect. I have three big rules for the making of a good brunch

1- I don't stand in lines, in Toronto this can be hard to avoid, but its all about knowing the right time to go
2- I don't do $15 french toast, brunch can be expensive in this city but often the greasier the cheaper the diner the better the food
3- Rude isn't necessarily bad, don't get me wrong the whole this-place-is-completly-out-of-your-league attitude is never good, but I would much rather take genuine rudeness over fake niceness any day, and I like a restaurant with an attitude it adds character and if you make good food you can treat me any way you like

The Patrician Grill on King St. East sums up all three of these rules. First of all there was no line up and they do a greasy spoon deal of 3 eggs with a coffee for $6.50 which is quite a deal and the food was pretty good it wasn't fancy but it was good for what it was. The place is clearly family run with the elderly father clearing dishes who actually asked a customer who dared to asked for a coffee refill if he should just drop the plates where he was standing and then proclaimed "wait"after which he never brought them more coffee. I thought this was hilarious as a waitress there have been many moments when I wanted to scream something similar but it not being my restaurant I have never had that option. I thought the this is who we are take it or leave attitude was a nice change from the we will do anything for your business attitude that normally prevails but that's just me.
